Scope:

Handles all purchasing activities of the company. Liaising with key suppliers for order placing and order execution. Informs the Managing Director for any problems with key suppliers

Major Responsibilities

  1. Forecasting levels of demand to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels
  2. Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  3. Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
  4. Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them
  5. Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided
  6. Keeping contract files and using them as reference for the future
  7. Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities
  8. Giving presentations about market analysis and possible growth
  9. Developing an organisation's purchasing strategy
  10. Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives
  11. Attending meetings and trade conferences
  12. Ensure proper implementation of quality system, proper documentation of procedures and completion of relevant forms

Position Qualifications

  1. Business related degree or equivalent professional qualification
  2. Knowledge of legal obligations
  3. Knowledge of international trading regulations
  4. Knowledge of meat trading industry
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
